After a hiatus Tom Ewing continues counting down UK number ones, this time Ace of Base’s “All That She Wants,” a song so ubiquitous in late ’93 and into ’94 that I never formed an opinion beyond appreciating the starkness of the opening line (“She leads a lonely life”) and the negotiations between Linn Berggren’s deep throaty pipes and the simplicity of the reggae preset. I can’t stand the other singles.
