Singles of the year – first quarter edition

Singles that have scored a seven or above. Although not in any order, I admire the generosity of “Take Care” a great deal — setting a solipsist as ruthless as Drake beside a blank as pronounced as Rihanna coaxes unsuspected feeling from both of them. The rueful “The One That Got Away” is closer to big ballad pop than country, and has no hope of crossing over because Adele isn’t singing it.
