For months I have dreamed of help. The election of Donald J. Trump and the spirit of resistance nascent in the left has exposed my weaknesses as a political writer, not to mention my activism.
I have asked Joey Daniewicz to join Humanizing the Vacuum as a contributor. An attendee of the University of Minnesota-Morris as a math major, Joey served as editor in chief of student newspaper The University Register. He served on the board of directors of Minnesota Public Interest Group and as Morris’ student representative to the UMN Board of Regents as well as on the state legislature’s Regent Candidate Advisory Council. Joey has worked to fight voter ID laws and 2012’s gay marriage amendment.
In the five years we’ve been friends, Joey’s activism has shamed me. A scabrous writer, skilled at invective, he has no patience for cant, as those misfortunates who’ve tangled with him on social media understand. He has also boasts excellent music taste and knows more about graphic novels than were dreamt of in my philosophy; I expect him to make these kinds of contributions too.
