The Chilean pop singer’s triumph – our highest ranking single of 2012 to date – isn’t unexpected but still annoys me. Imagine if Shannon had dropped “Let The Music Play” in 1985 and we anointed it the single of the year. Apart from what bro Jonathan Bradley calls my curmudgeonly praise of what still sounds like an album track, I deducted a point for political reasons.
Otherwise two songs with Robert Zimmerman copyrights get middling to awful reviews. Check this space next week for my full review of Tempest.
